Best Junior Goalkeeper Gloves Review

Are you struggling to decide which junior goalkeeper gloves would suit your kids best? We hear you, and we have you covered. It’s hardly surprising with the vast amounts of brands, sizes, materials, and specifications available on the market.

By the end of this blog review article, You should be in a better position to decide which goalkeeper gloves meet your requirements and, more importantly, those that don’t. You will understand which junior goalkeeper gloves have a high safety record, top picks, the best gloves for a low budget, and the best value.

While spending over a decade as a Sports Direct manager, I have personally watched thousands of gloves come through the doors. Some amazing and some not so great. I received valuable feedback from parents (good and bad), gloves that we couldn’t stock quick enough, and some gloves even recalled by the manufactory.

Related Product Reviews

1 – Mamba Junior Goalkeeper Gloves – £19.95

Features:

  • Premium Quality Latex
  • Finger Spine Protection
  • Double Wristband
  • Size 5-10 (6-13+ years)

Pros:

  • Double wrist support makes the glove support the kid’s wrist
  • One of the best finger support gloves on the market

Cons:

  • Not the cheapest on the market

My Verdict: 8/10

I made these pair of gloves first in my review because they offer so much quality, and I would choose them over anything at this price. The wrist support gives you the confidence that the gloves are doing their job.

Not only do they give premium support, but they look great too and catch the eye too. I would score them higher, but some gloves are more advanced than these, that is, if you’re willing to pay double, of course.

2 – Puma Ultra Grip 1 Junior RC Goalkeeper Gloves – £30.48

Features:

  • Ultra Latex Grip
  • Lightweight
  • Large Surface Area
  • Size 4-6

Pros:

  • Quality materials that will last a long time and super grippy palm to help catch the ball with ease.
  • Good buy for kids who want to take it more seriously.

Cons:

  • High end price for kids goalkeeper gloves

My Verdict: 9/10

Probably the best quality and spec in this review. Well worth the money and extremely popular over the years, not only in juniors but adults too.

Puma has been a popular choice for generations and looks like it will be staying that way for the future. If you have the budget, Puma Ultra Grip 1 RC would be in my basket.

3 – Nike GK Match Jr-FA19 Soccer Gloves – £17.99

Features:

  • Latex
  • Adjustable Closure With Cuff
  • Hook And Loop
  • Size 3-6
  • Colour: Black / White

Pros:

  • Look Amazing and feel secure

Cons:

  • Kids complain that there isn’t enough wrist support

My Verdict: 7/10

They look amazing and look very professional while maintaining a fair price. Nike surely is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, sports brands on the planet. Kids and adults alike love Nike.

The kids who complained about the wrist support were very young and entry-level. On that note, I would only recommend these gloves for kids with one or two seasons behind them.

4 – Sondico Match Junior Goalkeeper Gloves £10.49

Features:

  • Hook and loop closure foam
  • Breathable mesh panels
  • Colour: Various (black/white/yellow)
  • Size: 2-6 (up to 10 years)

Pros:

  • Easy to remove for younger kids
  • Great Price

Cons:

  • Low spec

My Verdict: 6/10

These are probably the best out of this price range. I fully understand money can be a bit tight these days, so they deserve their place in my review. Although they are great for entry-level (6 years), they might need replacing after a year or two with a glove that supports more.

5 – Renegade GK Fury Goalie Gloves – £49.99

Features:

  • Pro Level 4
  • Pro-Tek Fingersaves
  • Superior Grip
  • 4mm Giga Grip
  • Size: 7/11
  • Colour: Sub-Z – Roll Cut

Pros:

  • Trusted by many professional goalkeepers
  • Built to last

Cons:

  • Although great value, they are still expensive for junior and 7 is the smallest size.

My Verdict: 10/10

The Renegade GK Fury is a glove for serious goalkeepers who want to impact their team positively. It is a match glove designed to protect and perform under intense pressure. The latex used on the palm and backhand is thick compared to other gloves in this same profile.

The absorption rate is amazing, and you can hardly feel anything on the naked hand. The Duratex strap on the closure stabilizes the wrist and, at the same time, holds the glove in place during an intense soccer match.

I can understand why so many professional goalkeepers endorse this glove. They are one of the best gloves on the market and well worth the extra investment.

6 – Sportout Youth Goalkeeper Gloves – £19.99

Features:

  • Flat Latex Grip
  • Finger Spine Protection To Prevent Injuries
  • 360 Wrist Guard
  • Size 7

Pros:

  • Lots of wrist and finger support
  • Good value

Cons:

  • Only available for youth size 7

My Verdict: 8/10

Outstanding value with lots of extra’s they don’t need to add in this price range. When you put the glove on, you can instantly feel the quality. You can feel the structure of the glove giving superb protection to the fingers. It’s almost impossible to bend the fingers back.

It is a real shame they don’t do any smaller sizes; they would dominate the market. They don’t have the big brand power of Nike or Puma, but they match in quality. If you want an amazing glove and don’t want to pay the extra money, this glove is for you.

7 – Reusch Attrakt R3 Junior Goalkeeper Gloves – £32.41

Features:

  • Synthetic Palm Foam
  • Finger Protection
  • Full Strap Wrist Closure
  • Size 4 or 7 only

Pros:

  • High protection
  • Highgrade materials

Cons:

  • Price

My Verdict: 9/10

All-round amazing glove. Reusch is well renowned for its safety record on all their products, not just their gloves. I appreciate the extra padding in areas compared to some other gloves that are available on the market.

They have engineered the glove really well. The only thing that Reusch could improve would be the design. They only have black available to choose from, and It looks like something from the 1980s, but you will have an excellent glove that will last for years if that’s your thing.

We never received one complaint at Sports Direct about this product to help cement this glove into my review.

8 – Renegade GK Talon Goalie Gloves – £39.99

Features:

  • Dura-tek Latex
  • Endo-tek Pro Finger Saves
  • Duratex Strap
  • 3D Mesh Body (air)
  • German Engineered
  • Size 5-7

Pros:

  • Strong materials
  • Amazing safety and support

Cons:

  • None

My Verdict: 9/10

A product that is designed for professionals which endorses multiple leagues around the world. Engineered with all the latest technology to make sure you’re at your best.

The performance features are excellent ball-handling with the German Hyper Grip latex and the Endo-Tek Prost hat saves the fingers from bending backwards, and the 3+3MM latex that absorbs impacts and protects the hands.

The glove is comfortable to wear due to its breathable 3D mesh and a secure Dura-tex strap on the wrist to keep the glove in place.

The perfect glove for kids who are progressing through the ranks and not just playing around with friends. The price is well suited for the glove.

9 – FitsT4 Goalkeeper Gloves – £26.99/£29.99

Features:

  • 3mm German Latex & 3mm Foam
  • Anti-slip
  • Fingersaves
  • Double Wrist Guard
  • Size: 6-11
  • Colour: Black & Lime / White & Gold

Pros:

  • Look amazing in white and gold
  • Super thick padding, 3mm foam and then 3mm latex

Cons:

  • Not the most popular brand
  • Price is due to being men’s size too, giving more value to men than kids.

My Verdict: 9/10

Junior goalkeeper gloves done right! Out of all the gloves in this review, these have the best padding. They fit nice and snug, while the knuckles and wrists feel a lot of support throughout every movement. I never understood why every hi-spec glove doesn’t have double wrist straps; it just gives so much more support. The anti-slip feature is perfect for catching the ball—lightweight, flexible and very durable.

I love the white and gold version. It gives the entire product a cool, sleek look. A lot of features packed into this model and at a very reasonable price. Dumbex latex is known for lasting years. If so, these gloves are among the best.

10 – Shinestone Youth Goalkeeper Gloves – £16.90

Features:

  • 4mm Thick Latex Protection
  • Finger Protection
  • Hook & Loop Fastening
  • Size 5-10

Pros:

  • Very durable
  • Latex all around the glove
  • Great price

Cons:

  • Design could be better

My Verdict: 6/10

Shinestone is the new kid on the block, making them give many great features at a cost-effective price. The gloves feel thick and offer a lot of support in the right places.

This would suit a kid who wants to take the sport seriously but on a budget. You get a lot for your money, and if you like the design, this would be an ideal purchase. If this company can sell enough products and stay in the market, it could be going places.

11 – Pro sports Kids Goalkeeper Gloves – £16.99 / £17.99

Features:

  • Finger Spine Protection
  • 4mm Latex Palm
  • Tried & Tested
  • Padded Support Wristguard
  • Size 5-7

Pros:

  • Great padding & support
  • Perfect for beginner

Cons:

  • Lack of grip compared to some competitors

My Verdict: 7/10

Not very often, you get full protection for under £20. The spines are plastic and not metal like some other models, but you can not tell the difference when playing. The wrist support also helps these gloves rankly highly. They give plenty of grip and also suitable for all conditions.

The embroidered logo also adds that bit of quality to an already cool design. When I inspect gloves under £20, I’m looking for areas where they cut costs, and I’m struggling to find any with this model. They also offer a full money-back guarantee giving you extra security on your purchase.

12 – Yukool Goalkeeper Gloves – £22.99

Features:

  • 3+3mm Latex Palms
  • Finger Protection (4 spikes)
  • Elastic Double Wristband
  • Waterproof
  • Anti-slip
  • Colour: Orange/Blue
  • Size 5-8

Pros:

  • Guarantee
  • Amazing support

Cons:

  • Not a popular brand

My Verdict: 9/10

They are built to last and give maximum protection. The finger protection is at the same level as gloves that are double in price. If you’re worried about sprained finger’s and on a budget, these gloves are for you.

The company boast of being environmentally friendly without making any cuts with the product. All-weather and waterproof allowing indoor and outdoor in any conditions.

The design is cool, and they choose good and modern colours while using only the best materials, giving the gloves a long life and extra value for money. Highly recommend this product.

Goalkeeper Glove Care Guide

If you follow this basic guide, your new gloves should last the full lifespan and also help keep the structure of the glove, helping to keep your children’s hands safe:

  1. Wipe glove with a damp cloth
  2. Allow glove to dry naturally
  3. No need to use detergents
  4. Use odour eliminators to remove the odour
  5. Do not place the latex sides against each other
  6. Do not store in direct heat sources or sunlight when not in use.

Junior Goalkeeper Gloves Size Guide

A lot of parents find choosing the right size glove a rather difficult task. So we compared all the manufacturer’s charts and came up with the following guidelines. Since introducing this guide, returns have dropped considerably.

SizeAge (Years)Height Avg
46-73ft 9in / 3ft 12in
58-94ft 2in / 4ft 5in
610-114ft 6.5in / 4ft 8.5in
7Youth4ft 11in +

Conclusion

I’m happy you made it this far; I hope this review guide gives you a better understanding of safety, durability and support. If your kid is entry-level, it’s advisable to go with one of the cheaper models and build up into a more expensive glove.
