Lionel Messi House & Property

Lionel Messi House

Lionel Messi is one of the best soccer players in the history of the game. If you are a football fan, you already know how accomplished the Argentinean is as a player. So, instead of adding to the endless pile of his career heroics retellings, we will talk about Lionel Messi house and his cars in our new today’s article.

Where Does Messi Live?

Lionel Messi has been a permanent resident of Barcelona since 2001. During his La Masia days, Messi and his parents used to live in a small apartment adjacent to Barcelona’s iconic home ground-Camp Nou. Now he lives in the neighborhood of Bellamar, which is roughly 26 kilometers away from the city center of the Catalonian capital.

Bellamar is a small but posh residential area in the municipality of Castelldefels, Barcelona. How expensive are we talking about? The average Bellamar real estate goes for more than $6 million. The suburb is only 19 kilometers away from Camp Nou. Ciutat Esportiva, Barcelona’s training ground, is also nearby.

Lionel Messi Barcelona House

In 2009, Lionel Messi bought an old mansion facing the beautiful Balearic Sea for €1.8 million. He spent more than €6 million afterward for renovation and other customizations around the house. Currently, the house has an indoor gym, a football pitch, and of course, a stunning swimming pool.

You can take in the scenic elegance of Bellamar as you sweat out in the gym. It has a glass sidewall, which gives the space an abundance of natural lighting. On top of that, the breathtaking views of the coastal neighborhood never go out of sight. A number of Muhammad Ali posters adorn the wall of the gym. The boxing legend is one of Messi’s sporting inspirations.

The surroundings of Messi’s Bellamar mansion are heavenly, to say the least. Sandy beach, picturesque hills, and a pristine sea-Bellamar has everything you would look for in a Mediterranean utopia. Lionel Messi house has many panoramic windows, balconies, and patios for relishing the neighboring natural grandeur.

The wooden floors and delicate wall colors inside the house complement the Meditteranean setting. The interior design shows Messi’s fascination for the brown and beige colors. These shades appear predominantly throughout the house. The furniture is mostly dark brown and grey.

A garden encircles the outside patio, where Messi spends his free afternoons with his wife Antonella Roccuzzo and his three sons. The kids have a mini-football pitch to play. Besides, there is a separate playground within the property where his kids can play. There are roofless dining arrangements in the garden and a barbeque station.

Why Planes Can’t Fly Over Lionel Messi’s House

Interestingly, Messi’s Bellamar villa is a no-fly zone. His residence is only 11kms away from El Prat airport, one of the most hectic airports in Europe. But, airplanes don’t have permission to fly over Castelldefels as it has an environmentally protected zone. The ban doesn’t officially have anything to do with Lionel Messi.

However, some airline owners believe that the environmental regulations are a smokescreen to preserve Messi’s privacy. El Prat airport authorities have been preaching expansion plans to the provincial government, but the requests met with negative responses. This led many to believe that Messi has asked the higher administration to block such initiatives.

Javier Sanchez-Prieto, president of a local airline company named Vuelig, explicitly called out Messi for preventing the airport expansion. He said

‘’Planes can’t fly over Castelldefels because Lionel Messi lives there! This is ridiculous! This wouldn’t have happened anywhere else in the world.’’

Messi didn’t comment on the allegations, but his lawyers made Vueling apologize for accusing the Barcelona captain without any concrete proof.

Lionel Messi Childhood House

Lionel Messi now has a luxurious house in his hometown of Rosario, Argentina. The multi-million-dollar property offers all the amenities you would need to live an exorbitant life. His parents live here most of the time. Messi also jets in here during off-season intervals with his wife and children.

The childhood house where Messi was born still stands by the Israel Street of La Bajada-a middle-class Rosario neighborhood. The two-story building is located 300 kilometers away from Buenos Aires. The house still belongs to Messi’s family, but it’s deserted now. The rusty gate and grimy walls of the residence indicate nobody has lived there for a long time.

Even though the house gives away no clue that the Argentine superstar used to live here, La Bajada didn’t shy away from exhibiting its connection to Messi. You will see graffitis of him on nearly every wall of the area, and Rosario City Council has recently launched a tour program to make visitors familiar with Messi’s roots.

Messi Buys Neighbor’s House

Ivan Rakitic revealed in 2017 how Lionel Messi dealt with his next-door ‘’noisy’’ neighbors. In a sitdown with Croatian outlet Novi List, the midfielder said that tenants in Messi’s adjoining property showed little to no decency as neighbors. They used to play loud music and people kept on partying till late at night.

Such behaviors would put anyone in an uncomfortable situation. Messi and his family were no exception in that regard. He attempted to build a boundary wall between his and his neighbor’s property but had to back out when the court intervened. The lawsuit stated that Messi had broken several local regulations trying to build the wall.

For the sake of his and his family’s privacy, Messi then bought the entire property. Rakitic’s claims are consistent with the 2013 Diaro Gol report that had disclosed that Messi had acquired the property next to his Bellamar house. However, the Diaro Gol exclusive couldn’t explain why the Barcelona talisman chose to do so.
