Theo Walcott Wife & Family

Theo Walcott’s wife – Melanie Slade, isn’t what you expect from a Premier League star wife. She ranks highly against all the other footballer’s wives we have written about. So let’s dive deep into the Walcott’s personal life, marriage, and family history.

Theo Walcott Wife – Melanie Slade

Melanie Walcott (Slade) wife of Theo Walcott

Theo’s wife, Melanie Slade, was born in Southampton, England, on the 22nd of October 1988, making her thirty-two years old and a Libra zodiac sign. Currently employed as a sports physiotherapist, and we are sure Theo will be keeping her busy during their marriage!

As well as a fully certified sports physiotherapist, Melanie also works as a blogger for the infamous magazine HELLO!.

One could say she has two claims to fame, first being married to Theo, of course. The second being she was once an actress and even hit the big stage when she landed a role in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Although it wasn’t the most prominent role, it was a role nonetheless. She was the friend of Hermione Grainger. Next time you watch the movie look out for her; she was sitting beside Hermione during the Gryffindor Quidditch tryouts.

However, Mel Walcott is quite the opposite of your stereotypical footy ‘Wag’. By keeping her lifestyle and personal business private from the media eye whilst not releasing much information about herself or the Walcott family.

Not being a heavy social media user as Mel does not have an official Facebook or Instagram account. Her only social media platform is her Twitter account.

Girlfriends, Marriage & Family

Theo Walcott met his girlfriend and future wife in Southampton. A simple shopping trip at the West Quay shopping centre back in 2004 led them to cross paths and never look back. Theo was 15, and Mel Slade was 16 at the time, making them childhood sweethearts.

We believe Mel Slade wasn’t just his first love but also his first and only girlfriend. Fast forward to New Year’s Eve 2012, after eight years of dating, Theo finally proposed to Mel, which she happily accepted. They were married shortly after in 2013, set in Tuscany, Italy, with friends and family.

The Walcott’s decided not to waste any time with children. Their first son, Finley Walcott, was born in 2014, followed by their second son, Arlo Walcott, in 2016.

Both boys being healthy and interested in following Theo, being huge football fans. However, Melanie did reveal that Finley received emergency heart surgery to correct a heart deficit at only eight weeks old.

She explained: “When Finley was born, he was so small, he was born two weeks early, which is not too worrying, but when the doctors performed a routine examination, they found that he had a murmur on his heart.”

“Told from the doctors this can be deemed as normal at first, but it should sort itself out after 24 hours, but it didn’t, and so we then knew there was something serious going on with his heart.”

Finley Walcott is since in full health and recovered, living a healthy and active life together as a family.

With his weekly salary of a whopping £100,000, there’s no expense spared when finding the perfect home for his family and him.

Aside from his football commitments, Theo favours keeping a low profile similar to his wife Melanie, mainly spending time with his family, enjoy luxury holidays and fine dining restaurants together whilst remaining fit and active.

Theo has never been one to be seen in the public eye or surrounding himself in the nightlife and party scene. More of a true ambassador of the sport and a genuine professional attitude towards his career.

Theo Walcott’s Car Collection

Walcott has mentioned to the media previously in his early relationship with his now-wife Melanie; that they bet on who could pass their driving test first; needless to say, Melanie won the bet.

Theo, being successful his second time around and showing no hard feelings, decided to splash out on a £20,000 Volkswagen Beetle for Melanie, naming it the `Love Bug`. To symbolise his love for Melanie, Theo even registered the number plate T4M – `Theo for Melanie`.

Like most football superstars, Theo has an impressive collection of past and currently owned cars such as:

  • Volkswagen Touareg
  • BMW X5
  • Audi R8
  • Audi RS5
  • Ferrari 458 Italia
  • Ferrari 458 Spider

Quite the adrenaline junkie, as is a speed demon on and off the pitch. With a price tag of around £200,000 each for the Ferrari 458 Spider and Italia model shows Theo is undoubtedly enjoying his new increased pay rise from Everton club and living life in the fast lane.

Conclusion

As Theo Walcott and his wife see out the end of his football career, it will be interesting to see what happens next in his life chapter? Maybe one last season stateside? More children? Theo evolving into TV punditry? Or perhaps his sons following in their father’s footsteps to become Premier League stars?
