Kelvin Price vs Deontay Wilder

Sports Arena, Los Angeles, California (December 15, 2012. )

Before this match, Kelvin Price was unbeaten in his previous 13 fights. Measuring 6 feet and 7 inches in height, he matched Wilder’s towering figure. All these pointed towards a hard-fought battle in the ring.

But in reality, Wilder brutally overpowered Price in the fight. In the third round, Wilder surged towards Price and hit him with a fierce right-hand jab. Price hit the canvas immediately and surrendered the bragging rights.

Luis Ortiz vs Deontay Wilder II

MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada. (November 23, 2019. )

Determined to avenge his 2018 defeat, Ortiz had started the fight on the front foot. Wilder struggled to settle in on the first six rounds. It seemed more and more likely that Ortiz will have the last laugh this time around.

However, Wilder’s right hand produced yet another moment of magic to bail him out of the situation. Towards the final moments of round seven, he launched a right-hand punch that grounded the Cuban for good.

Luis Ortiz vs Deontay Wilder I

Barclay’s Center, Brooklyn, New York. (March 3, 2018.)

Wilder’s first meeting with Luis Ortiz proved to be the toughest challenge he faced in his heavyweight title defense. This fight dragged on to the 10th round, and in most of the times. Ortiz was calling the shots.

But, Lady Luck wasn’t favoring the former WBA interim heavyweight champion. As the match progressed, Ortiz became more and more tired. Wilder capitalized on this and settled the tie with a late KO.

Dominic Breazeale vs Deontay Wilder

Barclay’s Center, Brooklyn, New York. (May 18, 2019.)

Artur Szpilka vs Deontay Wilder

Barclay’s Center, Brooklyn, New York. (January 17, 2016.)

Artur Spilzka entered this fight as an underdog, but the Polish boxer put up an excellent fight against Welder. Spilzka took up his American counterpart’s onslaughts pretty well for the first 8 rounds.

Having survived well up to that point, an upsetting win for Spilzka wasn’t much of a far-fetched expectation. But in the ninth round, Wilder destroyed him with a vicious punch that led many to believe that Spilzka was killed by that hit.

Thankfully, that was not the case. But, the 27-year-old required urgent medical care.
